Pedra da Âncora

Rocky formation where the maximum top lies at around 2 meters high. It is a spot where marine life finds food and shelter below the natural rock holes. The more frequent species are Conger eels, Octopus, Lobster, Crab, etc. Congers do offer a nice show as they often swim very close to divers. Sunfish also appear occasionally in this area. Beautiful and colorful Gorgonias are all around in the rocky bottom. Average visibility rounds 5 to 20m and maximum depth is 36m. Diving in this place does require some experience. There are some points of reference to follow however is under the rocks that we can do some great findings as far as marine life is concerned.

Pedra da Lagoa
Located near “Lagoa de Albufeira” and standing over a white sandy bottom, some big and split rock formations offer some magic moments. Beautiful Nudibranchs, king size Congers, several Seabram types, Octopus, Squids and many other occasional species in reasonable sized schools. Sunfish (Mola Mola) is a common visitor in these waters allowing great photos.
This dive does require some diving experience as average depth is 26m and maximum depth is 29m.
Like other diving spots in the area, all formations are covered with beautiful and colorful Gorgonias.

Maria Eduarda wreck
Some miles away from the coastline lies an old tug boat in very good condition however only accessible with some special sea conditions. It offers to more experienced divers some very nice moments as holds some resident fish species that find there a shelter against natural predators. The dive must be very well planned because of the depth of 33 to 36 meters and some special attention is required not to touch the sandy bottom as visibility might get compromised.

Pedra da Caldeira
With a maximum depth of 18m this dive can be a real surprise. Some fish species not found in other dives in the area lie around this formation. Canyons and tunnels are delightful to divers as a lot of time can be spent in this place. Lobsters, Crabs, Octopus and squids are all around the place and ready to be found. As a curiosity, a telecommunications Submarine cable crosses the area and can also be used as a reference for orientation.

Cavernas
Near to Praia do Meco, this spot offers particular diving conditions. Big rocks with several swim-through provide an excellent challenge for underwater orientation.

Bailonas de Dentro
A place for technical divers where they can enjoy the beauty of an underwater cliff, that in some places reaches 10 meters high. Here divers can spot several anthias, Sun fishes and the coral specie Dendrophyllia ramea.

Pedra da Malha
A visit to an always different world. It's common the wording "there aren't two equal dives at Malha". Here you can find a big variety of algae, anemones, and gorgonies that remind us a garden. Marine life with several shoal of fish swimming in harmony, friendly octopus and some occasional eagle rays, make of this place one of the best for observing Portuguese marine species.

Viveiro Three big stones in a 30 meters area, host a huge quantity of small red mullets, together with other species forming a moving silver cloud of fish.

Caldeira The debris of a small boat full of fish are an excellent dive spot for the ones with less experience, since this place lies at only 7 or 10 meters depth.
